Airi’s submarine is tight, but the other sailors are their family. When Airi is not on duty, they are playing cards or working on a degree in social psychology. The war department found a way for sailors to complete their degree remotely—even underwater—and Airi dreams of completing their service requirement and then earning a graduate degree.
